Cash as a Gift – Is It Acceptable

Posted on 05/04/2011

Graduation is definitely a time for celebration; and in these difficult days it looks as if cash will continue to be king of gifts this year as well.  According to a survey carried out, it was found that more than half of the gift givers preferred to give cash while one third intended sending gift cards. The idea behind giving cash is to help the new grads to enter the real world or to get ready for the next phase of their education without having to worry about how they were going to manage financially.

When you care about someone, you want the gift you give him or her to be something thoughtful and timely and what better way to wish a graduate close to your heart by providing him with cash as a gift which would be appreciated in no small way. There’s no difference in giving a gift of cash to graduate which is the same as giving someone a card or check as a present for her birthday, Christmas or wedding.

Unlike in the past, monetary gifts are acceptable today and is in fact a much more thoughtful way of letting the recipient choose what he or she likes instead of loading them with unwanted stuff such as quilts, photo albums, bed linen etc. which most probably they have enough and wouldn’t care much if they didn’t, knowing today’s young. With a Cash gift Registry it’s possible for the new Graduate to let family and friends know what they really want and is an extremely sensible way of starting their new life. It’s almost like opening an account in a bank where others make deposits while you sit back and watch it grow. Marvelous!  Don’t you think?

What peace of mind when they know there’s money in their registry at their beck and call, this money can be used for anything they wish for such as to further their education or until such time they find a job. Once you open a Cash Gift Registry, it will be so much easier for your close relatives or even friends to deposit money in it which will be the most acceptable solution to all parties concerned as far as a Graduation gift goes.
